In 2010 we will build upon the success of existing SFS programs to incorporate synergistic products, services, partnerships and initiatives that will benefit active duty armed forces, our injured, ill and fallen military, our Veterans, and their families.

Our targeted beneficiaries of new 2010 SFS programs will include Veteran non-profit organizations whose charters embody service to active duty Armed Forces, injured or ill Veterans and their families as well as Veteran organizations dedicated to reintegration, education and workforce investment for our military when they return home.
The success of our Gift Card Program, which undoubtedly could generate significant funding for numerous Veteran related non-profits, relies heavily on participation of Sponsors including Big Box Retail, Grocery, Restaurant and Small Business.
As many of the proposed Beneficiaries do not solicit donations or, as per their charter, are unable to incorporate funding strategies such as the SFS Gift Card Program, it is the goal of SFS to facilitate funding for qualifying organizations through Sponsors that would like to support these types of non-profits.

SILVER STAR SERVICE BANNER DAY
|
|
Silver Star Families of America (501c3) began their mission in 2005.The Silver Star Families of America (SSFOA) is dedicated to supporting and assisting the wounded and ill and their families.Their goal is to recognize the blood sacrifice of our wounded and the illnesses incurred by our Armed Forces during combat, and remember their efforts by honoring them with the Silver Star Banner.
This initiative has led to the introduction of the national proclamation "Silver Star Service Banner Day". Starting in 2008, and growing since then, thousands of cities and their respective counties have designated May 1st as this day of recognition and since then 49 states have adopted state wide proclamations surrounding this initiative.
On October 22, 2009 Representative Roy Blunt (MO-R, D7) introduced to the House of Represenataives H. Res. 855: Expressing support for designation of May 1 as "Silver Star Service Banner Day". This will be a national day of recognition.

This bill has been introduced and been assigned to committee House Oversight and Government Reform.
Silver Star Service Banner Day Senate & House Bills:
S.Res.320 - A resolution designating May 1 each year as "Silver Star Banner Day".
H.Res.855 - Expressing support for designation of May 1 as "Silver Star Service Banner Day".
Based upon approval of this Bill prior to Saturday, May 1st, 2010, SFS and SSFOA have been penciled in at Walter Reed Medical Center for a ceremony that will take place on that day. This ceremony will honor our injured and sick military and the proclamation will be read by a senior level government official (perhaps Obama or Biden).
Therefore, in addition to the presence of our sister and brother non-profit organizations at the ceremony, we would like to invite private sector participants (sponsors) that have committed their support of the SFS 2010 initiatives.
Based upon the strength and number of the participants (Big Box Retail, National Grocery and Restaurant Chains) this could represent an excellent opportunity for these sponsors to greatly improve their brands by associating with this proclamation.
